The Livingston County Health Department advises anyone who came in contact with a rabid fox to get a rabies vaccination immediately.
A rabid fox was captured July 6 in Green Oak Township. Officials said it wandered into a garage where it was acting strangely.
Several people may have come into physical contact with the fox, perhaps having the fox brush against their legs, officials said.
Doctors say rabies can be spread by a bite or just by the animal’s saliva entering the body through broken skin.
The Health Department said Thursday that fewer than 10 people needed vaccination.
Rabies is 100 percent fatal when not treated in humans.
